This evening we had a very scary thing happen to our precious baby boy. He had been running a fever since Monday, so I took him to the doctor. The doctor said that despite the 102.9 temp that he had, he looked good, and probably had a virus. Advil and Tylenol as needed was prescribed.
This evening after Patrick had his dinner and was sitting in the bathtub, I noticed a rash beginning around his mouth---and spreading quickly on his face---James came in from working on his truck, and I called him to look at little Patrick....from there things got worse. Patrick started throwing up....to make a longer story shorter, we ended up at the ER around 8:00 pm with a very sick little baby boy.
As we waited, Patrick's rash got worse. James went and talked with someone, and we were able to get into a doctor pretty quickly--faster than it probably would have been, had James not talked with them.
By the time a doctor came to look at little Paddy, he was bright red almost all over his body. The doctor talked with us, then gave Patrick a shot. After that, two nurses attempted to give him an IV, while James and I tried to comfort our little crying, hurting baby. The IV was unsuccessful, and since the shot was already helping him, it was decided to administer the IV medicine orally.
Once Patrick had been given all his medicine, he was able to sleep with me while we waited for observation. Around 11:20 we left the hospital with a much better baby.
It may be related to his virus, the advil he had (he'd never had it before) or it may have been something new he ate today....whatever it was, it was an awful experience. I thank God for hearing and answering our prayers on behalf of our precious, precious baby. I feared for his life, and the thought of losing him was terrible. How fragile and out-of- our control life is!
Please pray for little Patrick if you think of it. He still has a fever, and there is a chance the rash could return. Please pray for his complete healing of both the rash and the fever/virus!
James is at Wal-Mart right now, getting benadryl. It's 1:32 am, and he has to leave for work around 7:15. Poor thing--so pray for him too, if you think of him.
Thank you God for answering our Prayers!!!
