Memories of Patrick and Our Weekend in Review

My Precious Little Boy~That's what he is fast becoming! I'm so glad that he is still a "baby" in some ways--like not really being able to talk :)....although he says "Pwah!" for please--repeating it when told to say it, or even when asked "What do you say?"
At times it sounds like he is trying to repeat/say other words, but nothing too terribly clear yet. Although he is quite the talker in his own little adorable language!

Patrick is so animated and dramatic! At times he will "pretend" to eat. He acts as if he is 'scooping' something out of some object, or pretends to pick up something and eat it! It is so funny and cute.
He makes such silly faces and movements too--complete with sound affects! His newest thing is to make a long "o" with his lips and go "OOOOoooo!!" and then at times during, after or before that, he will bend his head and upper body over--hard to explain, but quite hilarious!

He knows how to brush his teeth too! :) Well, sort of. He puts his tooth brush in his mouth and moves it around!

Holding onto something is a favorite of his. He loves to carry a comb, his toothbrush, a fork-- most anything. But he really does love combs! He knows how to use them too. Sometimes brushing his own hair, or even Mama and Daddy's at times! When we go to get the mail, he will often carry whatever object he had most recently along with us.

He knows about socks and shoes too--that they go on his feet. He tries to put them on!

I know I say it often, but he really is growing up so much! We see him understanding things and learning new things all the time. He is quite the little parrot! (we need to be careful what we do and say!) He loves to see us do something, and then try it out himself!

What a little affectionate thing he is, too! When he hears the words/tones "AWWwwww" he knows someone is being "lovey"--and he will often lay his head down on you (or the couch, chair etc.) and repeat the same sound--or maybe even put his arms around you. It melts our hearts!
He will come up to you throughout the day-in the middle of playing or whatever--and just lay his head down on you. It's so sweet!
Paddy is really good at giving "kissies" - with his mouth open, of course!
Sometimes even when we haven't asked for a kissie, he pokes his little chin out and opens his mouth, leaning towards leaning towards us for a kiss!
Awhile back he would sort of take your face in his hands, too--and he liked to "hug" you! He also will sometimes "pat" us.
He likes it when I rub some soft toy/object on his cheek, saying "SOFFFFT!" He smiles so sweetly!
He understands things we say to him too! Last Monday my mom and I were in the living room, with Patrick walking around. I told him to go get his piggy bank--and he actually did! He walked off, went into his room and brought out his bank (he LOVES to put the coins in it!) He loves to put anything into anything--Tupperware lids into a container, a spoon into a measuring cup....

He will give things to us when asked, (of course not ALL the time! He is only human after all!) and knows what sit down and lay down means--and "hold Mama's hand".

He likes to dance to music, or wave his hands back and forth. When he shakes something, he likes to dance to it too! He LOVES things that shake.

Lately he has gotten more into his toys--seeming to really understand more about playing with them. He gets them out all on his own. He likes his drum, books, cars--even liking to drive them back and forth! He likes balls too. He has a book with photos of babies doing various things. He loves to look at the pictures, and will at times bring the book up to his face--covering it with the book! I'm not sure if he is kissing the babies (he will kiss objects we tell him too. This morning he gave a kiss to one of his little plastic wise men from the manger scene!) or trying to mimic "smelling the flowers" like we do with some books. It's adorable though!
One book has a mirror that he likes to look at himself in--and he likes to see his reflection in the dishwasher door and put his face right up to it!
He likes to push things around on the floor-from his cars to his riding toy to books!

We love how he interacts with us now. "Talking" really loudly in his car seat. Pointing at things out the windows saying "OHHhh!".....He also wants certain people's attention at times. Sometimes he will do something and STARE at James--even making noises--wanting HIM to notice whatever it was that he did. When James does look and comment on it, Patrick is SO pleased!
Patrick likes to bring us things too--and close doors! We like to set him down right outside the front door, and let him walk in all by himself--and then tell him to close the door!
Yesterday Patrick and James were at the fridge door. James gave something to P, who then started to walk off....but then turned around--I said he wanted to close the fridge door :) Who knows!

--------------------------------------------

What a weekend! It started off with Friday. A HAPPY day. For one thing, I finally took Patrick to something I've been wanting to take him to for almost a month now: The Bouncing Babies at the Library! :) I had to wake him up from his nap to go, but I really wanted to go. It was SO fun. So nice to be with other moms and babies! Patrick wasn't quite sure what to think. He was rather shy, but eventually warmed up! It was (I think) he first time to do bubbles, too! He thought they were very interesting!

The other moms were all very nice. It was interesting to observe them all. There were 6 moms there (counting me) and one mom and dad. I didn't get every one's names, but hopefully next week I can get them, and possibly some pictures!!!

The first lady had a 15 month old son, Harry--and is about 2 1/2 months pregnant with their second. She was a friendly lady, with a haircut I really liked! Her Harry was quite familiar with his surrounding so it seemed, and not very shy at all!

The second mom was there with her husband and 6 month old son. They seemed like the very together type of parents~strong and confident~ and very interactive with their son. They seemed like the type that has opinions, plans and goals for life. The Mom wore a black outfit and sported a cute little black ball cap. She talked about going to the gym, how her baby could tell the difference between real phones and toy phones, and various other things--but always confidently. Their little son meanwhile sat about, or laid on his tummy--curiously observing everything going on about him.

Mommy number three wore jeans and a T-shirt and had a long brown and beautiful pony tail. She had a little baby boy--7 months old with a head full of black tight curls. She was friendly and sweet. She seemed kind of in between of the first two mommies, personality wise.....Comfortably confident, yet possibly a little shy and self conscious. She interacted lots with her curly headed son, and seemed very excited to be interacting with other moms as well.

After that was Mrs. Petite and her daughter Miss Petite! This little girl was like a little pixie! Yet her personality was quite the opposite-surprisingly not shy and adventurous....she was an animated little thing~dancing, clapping and waving bye-bye! Her mom was quiet--a little harder to attempt to read. Friendly and nice though! Easy to talk to--doesn't make one feel intimidated. Seemingly laid back in some ways.

After her was a mom who was very quiet. Her daughter was the same. They left very quickly, so no one really got a chance to talk with them.

The last mom was another who struck me as someone who has a together life style. She was nicely dressed, and her daughter looked very neatly arranged herself! :) She had a head of soft dark, straight hair~with a little clip holding some back. The mom was quiet and easy to talk to~and it seemed she might be a little overwhelmed at times with life.

It was a fun time. We sang and moved our legs and arms, blew bubbles, read books and more!

Later that day our new DVD player arrived, which meant we could watch a DVD that evening-complete with ice-cream. I was so excited. Then to top it off, James brought home a new phones for us!
The next day was rather uneventful. We stayed in the apartment for most of the day, but then left in the afternoon to go to a birthday celebration for the Gallagher's (pictures can be seen at www.life-with-patrick.blogspot.com)
It was a very enjoyable time. Poor little Patrick was so tired that he feel asleep very quickly on the way home.

The next morning we visited Rockwall Bible Church for the second time. After that we came home and I spent practically 7 hours at the computer, doing defensive driving. Ugh! It was SO long. I'm so glad that is over!

And now it is Monday. A cloudy-at-times-rainy Monday at that. And I am at home with nothing wonderful to eat or drink :), a car that I cannot drive for two reasons, a new DVD player that will only sometimes work and a baby who I'd really like to take a second nap right now! :)

and on that note, I shall end this very long post!

Thank you for looking on my blog and commenting. I really did enjoy my time in WI! It was great fun to be able to ice-skate on the pond, not to mention visiting with Pheobie and the rest of the family!
